Conclusions
In conclusion, the Center for Electronic Records has custody of a large and
varied number of computerized data files available for researchers in Latin
American studies. The data files range from long-term comparative statistics
on trade and transportation, to longitudinal studies of incidents of malnutrition,
to indexes to development related studies and captured documents. Researchers
interested in international studies in general, or particularly in resources
related to Latin America, should be aware of the electronic records at the
National Archives and exploit these resources for their research. In addition,
many of the records associated with USIA attitudinal surveys may be appropriate
for use in quantitative methods classes, especially where the professors
own research is international in focus.
